About Us

Our mission is to create opportunities for young and emerging Black talent in the creative industries by eliminating barriers to growth through access to skills development higher education and beacons of success.

To achieve this, we offer educational workshops, networking opportunities, talent development, and mentorship programs.

Our vision is for Black creatives across Canada to be equipped with the tools and resources necessary to excel, and a platform to showcase their work and success in order to inspire our communities and to ultimately provide them with more opportunity.

Our core values are learning, creativity, respect, and access for all.

Shamier Anderson and Stephan James were born and raised by a single mother in the Scarborough community. The Brothers have overcome adversity by making an impact in film & television globally. Their vision for the B.L.A.C.K initiative is to build a mentorship program in the film and entertainment industry which serves to elevate and uplift youth from their own and other marginalized communities.

As Black Canadian artists working abroad, during the early stages of their careers The Brothers found a lack of support and mentorship for emerging performers among their Canadian Industry peers.

They learned that successful talent is not only determined by what you know but by who you know. Anderson and James’ goal through the B.L.A.C.K initiative is to give back and pioneer an interactive platform for the next generation of Canadian bred artists & Hollywood heavyweights.
